Mary “Valma” Ray Hardwick: Tabor City

1931 – 2017

     Mary “Valma” Ray Hardwick of Tabor City died Monday, Nov. 27 in her home. She was 86.

     Born June 16, 1931 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Zeno Ray and Luna Belle Wright Ray and the widow of Milford Mack Hardwick.

     She is survived by two sons, Donald Hardwick of Whiteville, Michael Hardwick of Tabor City; one daughter, Rita Hursey of Loris; one brother, Patrick Ray of Tabor City; one sister, Esther Nesbitt of Asheville; five grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Jimmy Dale Hardwick, and one brother, Floyd Ray.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, in Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
