Jimmy Lee Owens: Loris

1944 – 2017

     Jimmy Lee Owens of Loris passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Vibra Hospital of Charleston following an illness. He was 73.

     Born Feb. 20, 1944 in Fitzgerald, Georgia, he was the son of the late Dewey Lee Owens and the late Mary Ann Hogan Owens.

     Mr. Owens worked as a Forman with Sumter Utilities, Inc. until his retirement and was a member of Bible Truth Holiness Church in Lydia.

     Survivors include his daughter, Mary Ruthann Martinez-Roque and husband, Edelmiro; grandchildren, Justin Ray Merritt and Bridget Michelle Guevara and husband, Rafael; and two great-granddaughters, Kayleigh and Natalie.

     In addition to his parents, Mr. Owens was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ellen Freeman Owens; and three brothers, Johnny, Shorty and James Owens.

     Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Pastor Hazel Mixon officiating.
