Jimmy Lee Dew, Sr.: Loris

1935 – 2018

     Jimmy Lee Dew, Sr. passed away on Saturday, Jan. 20, at his home in Loris. He was 82.

     Born May 23, 1935 in Dillon, he was the son of the late Hugh Wilson Dew and the late Martha Loraine Rogers Dew.

     Mr. Dew worked as a heavy equipment operator with the state until his retirement and was of the Baptist faith. He was a man of many talents, who loved his family and will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

     Survivors include his loving wife, Esther Hilburn Dew; daughter, Teresa Dew Adams and husband, Randy; two sons, Jimmy Lee Dew, Jr. and wife, Debbie and Ricky Dew and wife, Amy all of Loris; eight grandchildren, Bradley Adams and wife, Jennifer of Union, Tommy Adams and wife, Kelsey of Jesup, Georgia, Erica Dew James and husband, Marcus of Martinsville, Virginia, Brody Dew, Jackson Dew, Presley Dew, Nick Lewis and Ethan Lewis all of Loris; five great-grandchildren and two brothers, Bryan Franklin Dew of Roxboro, and Roy Webb Dew of Loris.

     Mr. Dew was predeceased by two brothers, John Douglas Dew and Robert Wayne “Johnny” Dew and one sister, Alice D. Hilburn.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to everyone at Hospice Care of S.C. and especially Nancy,  Ashley, Tomecca and Donna for all of their compassionate care during this difficult time.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Michael Rowell and Mrs. Lisa Rife officiating, committal services following at Princeville Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Hardwick Funeral Home, Loris.
