Betty Spivey Buffkin Campbell: Archdale
1937 – 2018
Betty Spivey Buffkin Campbell of Archdale passed away on Saturday, March 31. She was 80.
She was born Sept. 3, 1937 in Columbus County to the late John and Ressie Spivey.
A resident of the Archdale area most of her life, she was a member of Hope Chapel Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed going to church, crafts and sewing; especially doing alterations for family and friends. Her true love & passion was spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother & friend. She will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her first husband James Waylon Buffkin; children, Rhonda Tolbert, Sharon Cowan, Lawanda Murray & Danny Campbell; three siblings, Emery Spivey, Linwood Spivey & Hilda McCullum.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 24 years, James (Tommy) Campbell; her children, Regina Buffkin, Jeff Buffkin and wife Christy, Mike Tolbert & wife Stephanie, Jodi Cowan, Ciji Brewer, Kay Hackaday, Johnny Campbell and wife Susan; her siblings, Daphne Buffkin, Willard Spivey, Johnnie Devon Spivey and wife Kathy; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate Betty’s life was planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, April 5 in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale with Pastor Joe Bare officiating.
Family planned to receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Friday, April 6 at Gapway Baptist Church Cemetery, Tabor City.
