Marie Strickland Cox: Loris

1938 – 2018

     Marie Strickland Cox of Loris passed away on Thursday, June 14, in the arms of her family at home. She was 79.

     Mrs. Cox was born on Sept. 16, 1938 in Loris, daughter of the late Cain Strickland and the late Restie Marlow Strickland.

     Mrs. Cox worked with Marlene Industries for 20 years and a member of Live Oak Baptist Church.

     Survivors include her two sons, Billy W. Cox, Sr. and Hubert Cox both of Loris; four grandchildren, Carla Norris and husband, Ethan of Loris, Wayne Cox Jr. and wife, Jessica of Green Sea, Ashley Johnson and husband, William of Conway, and Breanna Cox of Conway; eight great-grandchildren, Haven Hardee, Harmony Hardee, Kristina Hardee, Olivia Hardee, Tristan Dunn, Everly Norris, Haley Cox, Reanna Cox, Riley Cox, Reagan Cox, Madison Johnson and Jackson Johnson and her two brothers, Elgie Strickland and Bobby Strickland both of Loris.

     Mrs. Cox was predeceased by her husband Bill Cox; her son, Bryant Cox, her four brothers, William C. Strickland, James Strickland, Rufus Lee Strickland, and Donald Cox, her four sisters, Sallie McCracken, Nevada Grainger, Flora Mae Sarvis and Elnita Cox.

     Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 17, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Bill Whitlock officiating.
