Jimmie Robert Hewett: Tabor City

1929 – 2018

     Jimmie Robert Hewett of Tabor City died Thursday, Aug. 2, in McLeod Loris hospital. He was 88.

     Born Nov. 2, 1929 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Jimmie Edward Hewett and Maude Cannon Canady Hewett.

     He is survived by his wife, Norma Elnora Gore Hewett of Tabor City; two sons, Jimmie Robert “Robbie” Hewett, Jr. of Tabor City and Heath Ivan Hewett of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Dawn Hewett Grubb and husband Dr. Stephen Grubb of Sunset Beach; five grandchildren, Zachary Grubb, Stephanie Caragher, Brianna Hewett, Connor Dudney, Lucas Hewett; and two great grandchildren, Eli Caragher and Sloane Caragher.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jonathon Gore Hewett; a brother, Hedley Hewett; and a sister, Louise Cox.

     He was a Veteran of the United States Army.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, in Tabor City Baptist Church, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service in the church.
