Sammie E. Coats: Loris
1932 – 2018
Sammie E. Coats of Loris passed away Thursday, Oct. 11. He was 86.
Mr. Coats was born in Loris, a son of the late Donnie M. and Alphie B. Coats. He was a lifetime member of Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and served on the Baptismal Committee as well as many other committees.
Mr. Coats enjoyed fishing and watching stockcar racing and boxing. His passion was manicuring his lawn.
Mr. Coats was predeceased by his wife, Cela Coats; three sisters, Helen Strickland, Christine Soles, and Peggy Prince; and a brother, Lacy Coats.
He is survived by his daughter, Tara Coats Cook and her husband Darren of Conway; two grandsons, Lince Cook and Blake Cook; two great-grandsons, Rylen Cook and Hunter Cook; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were planned for 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church with Rev. Mark George officiating, burial following in the church cemetery.
Visitation was planned from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
