Harry Kenneth Jernigan: Loris

1935 – 2018

     Harry Kenneth Jernigan of Loris passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at McLeod Health in Florence following an illness. He was 83.

     Mr. Jernigan was born on Feb. 21, 1935 in Tabor City to the late, Cleveland Jernigan and the late, Frances Doretha “Dora” Powell Jernigan.

     Mr. Jernigan retired as a city letter carrier with the US Postal Service and was a longtime member of Dogwood Hill Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon, Trustee, and Sexton for many years.

     Survivors include his son, David Jernigan and wife, Wanda of Rock Hill; his daughter, Roni Sarvis and husband, Stan of Loris; four grandchildren, Caleb Sarvis and Ethan Sarvis, both of Loris, and Ken Jernigan and Sha Fowler and husband, George all of Rock Hill; four great-grandchildren, Chandler Fowler, Kensley Fowler, Addison Fowler and Shelby Lynn Jernigan all of Rock Hill; one brother, Horace Terry Jernigan of Florence, and a host of loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

     Mr. Jernigan was predeceased by his wife, Betty Jane Spivey Jernigan; three brothers, Bruce Jernigan, Rudolph Jernigan and Hubert Jernigan and one sister, Thelma Hazel Wright.

     Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 21, at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Floyd and Reverend Alvin Jackson officiating. Committal services followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
