Cecil Cartrette McCumbee: Loris

1929 – 2018

     Cecil Cartrette McCumbee of Loris formerly of Tabor City, died Friday, Nov. 16, in Hope Arbor Assisted Living. She was 89.

     Born May 25, 1929 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Cartrette and Martha Richardson Cartrette and the widow of Fred Cole McCumbee.

     She is survived by three daughters, Teresa Long and husband Rev. Kenneth of Leland and Ocean Isle Beach, Pamela Majewski and husband Rich of Monroe, Cecelia Johnson and husband Barry of Blairs, Virginia; a brother, Herman “Joe” Cartrette of Whiteville; a sister, Lucille Sellers of Whiteville; eight grandchildren, Ken Long Jr., Kelley Wolf, Cole Gaskins, Megan Gaskins, Trevor Dawson Fowler, Shannon Fowler, Jonathan McCumbee, Jeremy McCumbee; and eight great grandchildren.

     In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Freddie Michael McCumbee; three brothers, Thurman “Jack” Cartrette, James Clarence Cartrette, Jerry Cartrette; and a sister, Brenda Creech.

     She was a member of Tabor City Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, Tabor City, burial following in Mt. Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, Clarendon.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service at the funeral home.
