Luther M. Rabon: Marion

1949 – 2019

     Luther M. Rabon of Marion passed away Monday, Jan. 28. He was 69.

     Mr. Rabon was born in Conway, a son of the late Donnie A. and Estelle G. Rabon. He was a member of Marion Baptist Church and the Oak Tree Sunday School Class. Mr. Rabon was Past Distinguished Governor of Civitan International for the State of South Carolina, Past South Carolina Jurisdictional President of WoodmenLife, and worked with Horry County School District, Mullins School District 2, and retired from Florence School District 1 as Assistant Superintendent of Finance.

     He was predeceased by one brother, Gordon Rabon and his father-in-law, Clyde H. Richardson, Jr.

     He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Donna Richardson Rabon of Marion; three brothers, A. D. Rabon (Ernestine) and Freeman Rabon of Jacksonville, Florida and Ernest Rabon of Myrtle Beach; three sisters, Genevieve Fipps (Wilton) of Saint John, Florida, Bonnie Faye Martin (Jack) of Aynor, and Synatha Mae Thompkins of Galivants Ferry; his mother-in-law, Dorothy W. Richardson of Loris; his godson, Justin Lee (Wendi) of Myrtle Beach; and several loving nieces and nephews.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31 at Marion Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Work officiating. Entombment was to follow at the Hillcrest Mausoleum.

     Visitation was planned to begin an hour prior to the service at the Marion Opera House.
