Carlton Coleman Shannon: Loris

1947 – 2019

     Carlton “C-Boy” Coleman Shannon of Loris passed away on Monday, March 18, at McLeod Loris hospital following an illness. He was 71.

     Mr. Shannon was born on Dec. 8, 1947 in Loris, to the late Carlton Claude Shannon and the late Thelma Mae Cox Shannon.

     Mr. Shannon served his country with courage, honor, and dignity in the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army. He earned a Bronze Star and received the Purple Heart for his valor and sacrifice during the Vietnam War. Mr. Shannon put his trust in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ everyday and was of the Baptist faith.

     Survivors include his wife, Linda J. Coats-Shannon of the home; five children, Carla Shannon Gasque of Conway, Frazier Shannon and wife, Jessica, Shanna Mae Holmes and husband, Scott, Alex Job Shannon all of Loris, and John Claud Shannon and wife, Holly of Summerton; five grandchildren, Jessica Gasque and Lauren Gasque of Marion, Layla Shannon and Samuel Shannon of Loris, and Johnathen Zechariah Shannon of Summerton; three sisters, Linda Faye Shannon Long and husband, “M.D.” of Loris, Edna Roberts and husband, Rod of Shepherdsville, Kentucky, and Teresa Burns of Loris, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 21 at Hardwick Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Lloyd Williamson and Mrs. Shanna Mae Holmes officiating, committal services with military honors following at Shannon Family Cemetery in the Live Oak Community of Loris.
