Piedmont Natural Gas workers have shut down the gas line ruptured in Brunswick, and cancelled the evacuation order.

NC 130 remains closed, but was expected to re-open soon as NC DOT barricades are put in place around the damaged section of natural gas line.

Workers using a trencher reportedly struck the gas line, rupturing it.

A natural gas line has ruptured in the town of Brunswick, forcing the closure of NC 130 and a quarter-mile evacuation of businesses and homes, including Brunswick Place Apartments.

Piedmont Natural Gas crews have responded and are working to shut off the gas flow. The highway and other streets and roads will be re-opened once the gas flow has stopped and the area is deemed safe.
