A Loris man died in an officer involved shooting in Myrtle Beach early Saturday, the Horry County Coroner’s Office said.

Matthew Graham, 32, died following the 2 a.m. incident near 65th Avenue North and Timberline Street, Horry County Deputy Coroner Patty Bellamy said.

Neither of two Myrtle Beach Police Department officers involved in the shooting were hurt, a department spokesman said.

Witnesses said the incident began with a stolen bicycle that Graham allegedly rode away from a Timberline Street garage earlier, about 11 p.m. Friday, The Sun News reported.

Police were trailing Graham, on the bicycle, about 2 a.m., the witnesses said. After the bicycle and police turned the corner on 65th Avenue North, witnesses said they heard four or five shots, and a short time later saw officers putting up police tape.

Investigations by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and Myrtle Beach police are underway. Anyone with information or evidence in the incident is asked to contact SLED at 803-737-9000 or Myrtle Beach police at 843-918-1382.
