Irene Johnson Hardee Fowler: Loris
1926 – 2020
Irene Johnson Hardee Fowler of Loris went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 12, at Lower Cape Fear Angel Hospice House. She was 93.
Mrs. Fowler was born on Dec. 5, 1926 in Tabor City to the late Duke Johnson and the late Lettie Fowler Johnson.
Mrs. Fowler worked as an LPN at Loris Hospital until her retirement after 38 years of faithful service. She enjoyed working on the farm with her husband and was a dedicated member of Oak Dale Baptist Church, where she served as WMU director, Bible school coordinator and Sunday school teacher throughout the years.
Survivors include her three daughters, Brenda Jo Hardee Canada, Charlotte Faye Hardee Harrelson and husband, Lloyd, and Yvonne Hardee Stanley and husband, Ray all of Loris; daughter in law Donnella Stevens Hardee of Loris; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, John F. Johnson and wife, Gladys of Douglas, Texas.
Mrs. Fowler was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Clifton Hardee; second husband, Braxton Fowler; a son, Rodney Clifton Hardee; and six loving brothers and sisters.
Graveside services were planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Oak Dale Cemetery with Rev. Joey Price officiating. Family planned to receive friends immediately following the service.
