Jalen “J-Bird” Kordell Hert: Tabor City

Jalen “J-Bird” Kordell Hert of Tabor City died Monday, Aug. 10. He was 25.
Born July 1, 1995 in Davidson County, he was the son of Donald Boyd Hert and his wife Lynn and Michelle Kennedy Trejo and her husband Gilberto.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Tyler Benge of Thomasville, John Thomas Long and Joseph Dallas Long of Tabor City; two sisters, Emma Cox and Ivey Cox of Lexington; his fiancé, Jodie Penny of Tabor City and her children, Khloe Penny and Izaiah Hernandez; maternal grandmother Deborah Barnes; his mother’s boyfriend, Gregory Locklear; Tyler’s grandma, Jolene Hulon; and Tyler’s Aunt Sandy Benge and her boyfriend Lewis Lomba; and a host of friends, Ubie, Fedex, Lalo, Campos, Tata, Cheese, Ozzy, Nino, Chato, Chamon, Raul, Eric, Brondo, Nester, Marcos, Chitin, Joel, Bert and Sapo.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.
