Gary Hardee: Tabor City

1953 – 2020

     Gary Hardee of Tabor City passed away on Saturday, Nov. 7. He was 67.

     Mr. Gary Hardee was born Aug. 5, 1953 in Conway to the late Leon Hardee and the late Tessie Johnson Hardee. Mr. Hardee was the owner and operator of Gary’s Plumbing. He loved his family dearly, was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved NASCAR. He was also a longtime member of Mt. Leon Baptist Church.

     Survivors include his wife, Dixie Ray Hardee of the home; daughter Tessie Hardee Parrish and husband, Jeremy of Tabor City; son Gary Matthew Hardee and wife, Amy of Nakina; five grandchildren, Liliana Rivero, Isabella Rivero, Hailey Ward, Abel Stocks, and Raven Parrish; mother-in-law Louise Ray of Tabor City; and three sisters, Annie “Bonnie” Norket and husband Al of Myrtle Beach, Wanda Mishoe and husband Bobby of Conway, and Sheila Strickland and husband Dennis of Conway.

     Mr. Hardee was predeceased by his five brothers, L.D. Hardee, Joseph “Buck” Hardee, Larry Hardee, Elvis Hardee, and Wendell Hardee; and two sisters, Hilda Faircloth and Jeanette Murrell.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Mt. Leon Baptist Church.

     Funeral services were planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at Mt. Leon Baptist Church with Pastor Andy Bell and Rev. Leo Smith, Jr. officiating, committal services following at Pireway Community Church Cemetery.
