Tammy Gray Canady: Clarendon

1965 – 2020

     Tammy Gray Canady of Clarendon passed on Dec. 30, 2020 in Conway. She was 55.

     She was born Oct. 27, 1965 in Robeson County.

     Tammy was a member of Clarendon Baptist Church for most of her life. She enjoyed the activities of the Tabor City Senior Citizens Center especially participating in crafts. Her family will always be grateful to the Senior Center for the love and support shown to Tammy.

     She also loved her Carolina Forest family and all of the special activities at Carolina Forest High School. Tammy especially looked forward to her monthly dinners with the Scottish dinner group.

     She is survived by her brother, George Wayne Canady of Conway; her sister, Bonte Canady Merrill and husband Kevin of Isle of Palms; her aunt, Ann Ward Hughes of North Myrtle Beach; her uncle, Larry Canady of Nakina; cousins Ralph Canady, Dr. Gray Hughes and Mitzie Hughes.

     She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Gray Hughes Canady; her father, Charles Wayne Canady; maternal grandparents Gray and Ruby Stanley Hughes; paternal grandparents George Canady and Mable Sasser Canady Smith; her aunt and uncle, Miriam Hughes Berry and Staley Berry; aunt Ray Canady; uncles, Furnie Hughes and William Canady.

     Her family expresses their appreciation to Nancy Strickland for the love and compassionate care given to Tammy for the last 15 years.

     In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clarendon Baptist Church, Att: Rev. Ryan Edwards, PO Box 127, Clarendon, NC 28432.

     Due to health concerns her family has planned a private service. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date when conditions are more favorable.

     Viewing is planned from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Peacock Funeral Home, Whiteville. Masks will be are required and social distancing recommended.
