James Wayman Stocks: Tabor City

1941 – 2021

     James “JW” Wayman Stocks of Tabor City died Sunday, Jan. 17, in his home. He was 79.

     Born Sept. 24, 1941 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late James Bertis and Mildred Faulk Stocks.

     He is survived by his wife, Brenda Soles Stocks of the home; a son, Jeffrey Stocks and his wife Christy of Chadbourn; two daughters, Robin Hill and her husband Chris and Crystal Shepard, all of Tabor City; a sister, Frances “Frankie” Evans of Ash; and eight grandchildren, Alyssa Hill, CJ Hill, Allison Grimmett, Jaxon Hill, Jennifer Stocks, Ashleigh Stocks, Madison Shepard and Alexis Shepard.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Colis Stocks, Dale Stocks, and Glen “Tiny” Stocks; and a sister, Carolyn Ellis.

     JW was a member of Dulah Missionary Baptist Church.

     A graveside service was planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, in the Dulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Tabor City.
