Carol Jean Soles Fowler: Clarendon

1949 – 2021

     Carol Jean Soles Fowler of Clarendon died Saturday, Jan. 23, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Wilmington. She was 71.

     Born Nov. 13, 1949 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Leo Buddy and Lessie Phillips Soles.

     She was also preceded in death two brothers, Buster Soles and Roger Soles, three sisters: Patricia Panye, Louvenia Yarborough, and Louise Todd; two sons, Deary Jason Fowler and Michael Shearer; and three grandchildren.

     She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Deary Junior Fowler of the home; two sons, Bill Jones of Bonaire, Georgia and Frankie Jernigan of Green Sea; seven daughters, Sandra Hill of Lake Waccamaw, Angela Shelley of Siler City, Angie Rice of Marshall, Jeannie Powers of Bladenboro, Tonya Wells of Florida, Jennifer Stephens of Orrum, and Jessica Fowler of Hallsboro; a brother, Ronnie Soles of Marshall; six sisters, Brenda Cox of Andrews, Geraldine Ward of Loris, Willa Dean McPherson and Clara Cartrette of the Beaverdam Community, Dorothy Soles and Rebecca Soles of Whiteville; twenty-four grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.

     Graveside services were planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, in Myrtle Green Cemetery, Tabor City.
