Lucille Long: Nakina

1946 – 2021

     Lucille Long of Nakina died Friday, Feb. 12, in her home. She was 74.

     Born Aug. 25, 1946 in Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late Norman Whaley and Pearl Ward Whaley.

     She was a member of Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church, Nakina.

     She is survived by a daughter, Renee Long of Nakina; two sisters, Norma Suggs of Southport, and Teresa Register of Whiteville; seven nieces; and three nephews.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Whaley and Gene Whaley; and a nephew.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 in Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church, Nakina, burial following in Reaves Family Cemetery, 1038 Poley Bridge Church Road, Nakina.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service in the church.
