Maxine Tyler Dawes: Murrells Inlet

Maxine Tyler Dawes died Friday Feb. 19, at her residence in Murrells Inlet. She was 89.
Mrs. Dawes was born in Cool Springs to the late Monroe and Nettie Maude Tyler. She was a realtor and former Loris resident where she served on the City Council and was the city’s first female mayor, serving in that post for 12 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Dawes, Sr.; and a brother, Tom Tyler.
Mrs. Dawes is survived by her son, Charles F. “Chuck” Dawes, Jr.; daughter Delitha D. “Del” Wooten; sister Jerri Tyler Cameron; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was planned for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at Twin City Memorial Gardens, Loris.
