Pecolia Wood Gaskins: Tabor City
1933 – 2021
Pecolia Wood Gaskins of Tabor City died Saturday, March 6, in her home. She was 87.
Born March 11, 1933 in New Hanover County, she was the daughter of the late William Jethro and Emily Cook Wood and the widow of JC Gaskins.
She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Gaskins and his wife Elaine of Tabor City and Mark Gaskins and his wife JoAnn of Wilmington; a daughter, Deborah Sue Gaskins of Martinsville, Virginia; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Carey Gaskins; four brothers, Frank Wood, Thomas Wood, Joe Wood, Sr. and an infant brother; four sisters, Catherine Long, Claudia Smith, Virginia Livingston and an infant sister.
Mrs. Gaskins was a faithful member of the Iron Hill Baptist Church.
Graveside services were planned for 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Family planned to receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
