Lizzie Watts Smith: Tabor City

1930 – 2021

     Lizzie Watts Smith of the Pireway Community, Tabor City, died Saturday, March 27, in McLeod Seacoast hospital, Little River. She was 90.

     Born in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Ned and Gertie McLamb Watts and the widow of Hubert Elderidge Smith.

     She is survived by one daughter, Vickie Smith Ward and husband Larry of Tabor City; two grandchildren, Jennifer McPherson and her husband Rocky of Clarendon and Travis Ward and his wife Jennifer of Tabor City; six great grandchildren, Acie Soles and her husband Dustin, Trey Smith and his wife Nicole, Angel McPherson, Ellorie Ward, Tripp Ward, Adelyn Ward; and one great-great grandchild, Timber Soles.

     In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Benny Eugene Smith; a daughter, Nancy Smith Reaves; seven brothers; five sisters; and two grandchildren, Amanda Ward and Benny Eugene Smith Jr. “PeeWee”

     She was a member of Pireway Original Free Will Baptist Church.

     Funeral services were to be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, in Pireway Original Free Will Baptist Church, burial following in Pireway Cemetery, Tabor City.

     Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, in Inman Ward Funeral Home and Crematory.
