1955 – 2021
Barry Lambert Housend of Clarendon, went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 3, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was 65.
Barry was born Dec. 6, 1955, in Loris. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Wilson Housend.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Worthington Funeral Home, Chadbourn.
A funeral service was planned for 3 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church with Pastor Buddy Seay officiating, interment following in the Gapway Baptist Church Cemetery, Tabor City.
Barry was a member of the Williams Township Fire Department, where he served as chief for 13 years. He was employed by the Department of Corrections, where he held the rank of lieutenant, retiring at the Tabor Correctional Institution in 2020. He also served as Treasurer for the Columbus County Fire and Rescue Board; Barry was a Columbus County Shriner of the Sudan Temple and a Master Mason of the Tabor City Lodge, No. 563. He was also currently serving as a board member of the State of Employees Credit Union.
To cherish his memory, Barry leaves behind his wife since 1975, Rhonda Gale Housend of the home; three children, Brandi H. Currie of Lumberton, Brandon Barry Housend of Clarendon, and Jonathan Barrett Housend of Clarendon; mother, Ruth Coleman Harris and husband Willard of Chadbourn; siblings Deborah H. Mathis of Chadbourn, Robin H. Williamson of Whiteville, Dale Coleman of Disputatane, Virginia; and four grandchildren.
