Shirley Allen Fowler: Thomasville
1936 – 2021
Shirley Allen Fowler of Thomasville passed away on May 12. She was 84.
She was born on June 22, 1936 in Tabor City to the late Dude Vance Allen Jr. and Emma Georgia Hewette Allen. She worked at Thomasville Furniture Plant A for many years before retiring.
Shirley was a loving mother of five and would do without to help others. She never had much, but if you needed a place to stay, her door was open. If you were hungry, she would fix you something to eat. She had a heart of gold and will surely be missed by all that truly knew her. She so believed in her Lord, Jesus Christ and was a member of Bright Light Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Ray Fowler; a brother, Tommy Allen; and sisters Lois Todd and Joyce Harrelson.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jeffrey “Dean” Fowler (Sandy) and Michael “Mike” Fowler, both of Lexington; daughters Tammie Lee (Billy) of Thomasville and Sara Noah (Danny Guilliams) of Lexington; nine grandchildren, Billie Jo Lee, Bradley Fowler, Steven Noah, Melissa Hobbs, Jenna Leftwich, Barry Todd, Deanna White, Regan Fowler, and Doug Fowler; and eleven great-grandchildren, Natalie, Taylor, Callie, Jason, Brandon, Aharon, Levi, Cierra, Alyssa, Karmen, and Saylor.
Visitation for Shirley was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 14, at J.C. Green and Sons Funeral Home in Thomasville.
A funeral service was planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, at the J.C. Green and Sons Chapel with Rev. Henry King officiating, burial following in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
