Billy Rue Horton: Asheboro
1927 – 2021
Billy Rue Horton of Asheboro passed away June 20. He was 93.
Born Nov. 9, 1927 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Reuben Horton and Goldie Jane George Horton.
Mr. Horton enlisted into the military in 1946 and served through 1967. He was a paratrooper pathfinder in the 82nd Airborne.
He was an active member of First Methodist Church in Asheboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Horton, and stepson, Larry Abel.
He is survived by his son, Harold Horton; three grandchildren, Marshell Kernette Abel, Wesley Abel and Caleb Horton.
