Richard Eugene Johnson: Tabor City

Richard Eugene Johnson of Tabor City went home to be with Jesus at 8:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22. He was 75.
Born April 22, 1946 in Columbus County, he was the son of Toy and Elverta Johnson, who preceded him in death.
Richard was a US Navy Veteran and enjoyed his hobby of fishing with his best friends, Troy Hardee and Lavelle Coleman. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, and was a Master Mason of the Scottish Rite, Acacia Lodge #94, and a Shriner.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Johnson, and his four legged friend, Buddy, of the home; two brothers, Grady (Martha) Duncan of Chadbourn and Ronnie (Carolyn) Johnson of Lexington, South Carolina; and two sisters, Deanie Boyd of Mebane and Carrie (Jack) Rising of Tabor City.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Johnson and Arvell Duncan; and one sister, Dorothy Borino.
A funeral service was planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, in New Life Baptist Church, burial following in Myrtle Green Cemetery.
Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding the service in the church.
