Ruby Jane Cribb Blackwell: Longs

1937 – 2021

     Ruby Jane Cribb Blackwell of Longs died Sunday, Nov. 21, in her home. She was 84.

     Born Jan. 1, 1937 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Wesley “Son” Cribb and Lettie Jane Cribb Cribb.

     She is survived by four daughters, Shirley Jean Blackwell and Nancy B. Schimp (Park) of Longs, Margaret B. Alkire (Scott) of Orlando, Florida, and Diann Hornborg of Winter Park, Florida; a son, Richard Blackwell (Kay) of Myrtle Beach; two sisters: Mary Lee Bruton of Little River and Willa Dean Ellison (David) of New Bern; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one step grandson; five step great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and two step great great granddaughters.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rozier Blackwell; six brothers, Clayton Cribb, Jr. Cribb, Charles Cribb, Phillip Cribb, Billy Cribb, and Bobby Cribb; and three sisters, Pauline Pittock, Estelle Jolly, and Margie Cribb.

Visitation was planned from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, in Clarendon Baptist Church, burial following in Cribb Cemetery.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
