Marlene Joann Hoaglan Soles: Loris

1936 – 2022

     Marlene Joann Hoaglan Soles passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 1, at her home in Loris. She was 85.

     Born Nov. 27, 1936 in Ashland, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late Elzo Byron Hoaglan and the late Edna Mae Hyde Hoaglan. Mrs. Soles was well known in the community for her work in retail sales, and was a longtime member of Cane Branch Baptist Church.

     Survivors include her two daughters, Kathy Lynn Fipps and husband Teddy of Green Sea and Tammy Jo Soles of Loris; two sons, Keith Soles and wife Gayle of Spartanburg and Kenneth Soles and wife Tammy of Statesville; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Marilyn Cox of Statesville, Darlene Kreuger of Glidden, Wisconsin, Charlotte Norris of Whiteville, and Janice Monfre and husband, Joe of Pewaukee, Wisconsin; and sister in law Linda Hoaglan of Texas.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Soles was predeceased by her husband, Grover Keith Soles; and a brother, Jerry Hoaglan.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Cane Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Jon Johnson officiating, committal services following at Twin City Memorial Gardens.

     Family planned to receive friends during the two hours preceding the services at the church.
