Joan Coley Dotson: Conway

1943 – 2022

     Joan Coley Dotson of Conway passed away on June 30 at Embrace Hospice House of the Grand Strand. She was 78.

     Born Sept. 18, 1943 in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late George Melvin Hucks and the late Mary Bailey Hucks.

     Mrs. Dotson was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and dear friend.

     Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Melton Boyd Dotson; two sons, Mike Dotson and wife Tina of Des Moines, Iowa and Jeff Dotson of Belmont; daughter Susan Dotson Nealey and husband Dwight of China Grove; four grandchildren, Amanda Allison and husband Troy, Andrew Moritz and wife Brittany, Monica Dotson, and Kiana Dotson; four great-grandchildren, Gavin, Daniel, Jayden, and Xander; a brother, Kenneth Hucks of Denton; three sisters, Brenda Poole and husband Glenn of Harrisburgh, Georgia Melton and husband Dean, and Terrie Neely and husband Robin of Charlotte.

     In addition to her parents Mrs. Dotson was predeceased by her son, Steven Dotson; a sister, Janet Williams; and brother-in-law Gary Williams.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at Good Hope Baptist Church with Pastor John Sullivan officiating, committal services following at Woodlawn Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends during the hour preceding the service in the church.

     Those who wish may make memorials to a charity of one’s choice.
