William Monroe Lewis: Whiteville

1950 – 2022

     William “Bill” Monroe Lewis of Whiteville died Monday, July 11. He was 72.

     He was born April 1, 1950 in Columbus County to the late Thomas Purnell and Retha Mae Ward Lewis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law and a nephew.

     He was survived by his wife, Jolene Fowler Lewis of the home; and his sisters, Annie Mae Lewis Boswell and Gloria Gayle Norris of Whiteville and Rita Jane Housand of Tabor City.

     Bill was a Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Army Special Forces. He owned and operated Lewis Heating and Air.

     His graveside service with military honors was planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, in Myrtle Green Cemetery in Tabor City with Reverends Dr. Wayne Brown and Dr. Fred Senter officiating.
