Betty Jean Singletary Murray: Burgaw

1941 – 2022

     Betty Jean Singletary Murray of Burgaw entered her eternal rest on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at her home. She was 81.

     She was born June 30, 1941 in Horry County, to Leba and Grace Cox Singletary. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn McMillian.

     Betty is survived by her husband, Milton Lee Murray; step-children Steven Murray and Jennifer Templeman; a brother, John Singletary; one sister, Bonnie Spivey; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

     She was retired after teaching many years at Brunswick Community College.

     A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, at Burgaw Baptist Church. Rev. Danny Justice, Rev. Ben Horrell, and Rev. Allen Singletary conducted the service. Burial followed in Riverview Memorial Park.
