Janice McPherson: Clarendon

1945 – 2022

     Janice McPherson of Clarendon died Monday, Oct. 10, in Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. She was 76.

     Born in Columbus County on Oct. 16, 1945, she was the daughter of the late G. Edgar and Maude K. Duncan and step father, Kelly Duncan.

     Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many. She enjoyed cooking, working on the farm and caring for others. She loved her family, home, farm, and watching UNC basketball. She was a member of Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church.

     In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Robert Duffie McPherson; her sister, Ethel Ward of Whiteville; and her brother, James Duncan of Virginia.

     She is survived by her daughter, Sheryl M. Gore (Jeff) of Clarendon and two grandchildren, Dr. T. Canyon Gore of Tennessee and Taylor M. Gore (Blake) of Hallsboro; her son, Russell W. McPherson and three grandchildren of Clarendon; and her brother Fred Duncan (Betty) of Whiteville.

     A graveside memorial service was planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in McPherson Cemetery, Peacock Road, Chadbourn, with Preacher Buddy Seay officiating and directed by Inman Ward Funeral Home and Crematory.

     Family planned to receive friends following the service in the cemetery.
