Joseph E. Brown: Goldsboro

1936 – 2022

     Joseph E. “Pete” Brown passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, at his home in Goldsboro. He was 86.

     Born July 26, 1936 in Columbus County, he was a son of the late Wilbur “Wib” Brown and Elmer Lee (Nance) Brown.

     Pete, also known as Buddy by his friends and family, was retired from the United States Air Force after more than 20 years of dedicated service to his country.

     Survivors include his wife, Shelva “Irene” (Duncan) Brown of the home; two sons, Rev. Joseph “Joey” Brown of Whiteville and Mike Brown of Princeton; two brothers, Howard Brown of Evergreen and Edsel Brown of Charlotte; four grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

     He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Debra McNair.

     A graveside funeral service, with full military honors, was planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Family planned to receive friends briefly following the service.
