Cleatus Norris Cartrette: Whiteville

1926 – 2022

     Cleatus Norris Cartrette of Whiteville passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, in Whiteville. She was 96.

     She was born May 22, 1926, in Columbus County, a daughter of the late Azier Edmund Norris and Loudella Norris.

     She is survived by three sons, Ray Cartrette of Tabor City, Jerry Cartrette and Larry Cartrette, both of Whiteville; three daughters, Brenda Babson, Deborah Batten, and Dianne Walker, all of Whiteville; a sister, Patsy Ruth Hefner of Newton/Conover; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Garland “Dock” Cartrette, four brothers, three sisters, and two great-grandchildren.

     Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Buddy Seay officiating, burial following in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

     Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Flowers will also be accepted.
