Hiawatha G. Strickland Fowler: Whiteville

1949 – 2023

     Hiawatha G. Strickland Fowler of Whiteville died Sunday, Feb. 19, in Whiteville. She was 74.

     She was born in Horry County, a daughter of the late Ed and Janie (Greenwood) Grainger.

     She is survived by her husband, Jerry Fowler of the home; one son, Garry Strickland of Loris; Jerry’s daughter Melissa Hinson; and numerous grandchildren and step grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Horace Strickland, Jr.; three brothers, Dale, Ronald, and Garland Grainer; four sisters, Reba Buffkin, Bernice Causey, Inez Johnson, and Shelvie Fowler.

     Family planned to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.

     Funeral services were planned for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home chapel, with Rev. Kyle Powell officiating, burial following in Spivey Cemetery.
