Thomas Wayne Suggs: Tabor City

1947 – 2023

     Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Suggs of Tabor City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville. He was 76.

     Mr. Tommy was born at the Suggs family home in Tabor City, a son of the late Lacy Palmer Suggs Sr. and Mazie Lea Suggs.

     He was a beloved husband and father. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved being outside, gardening, and working in the yard.

     Survivors include his children, Thomas Wayne Suggs II, Subrina Suggs (Chad) Nettles, and Derrick Wayne (Lisa) Suggs; siblings Lou Floy Harrelson, Lacy Palmer Suggs Jr., Robert Suggs and Maggie Lundy; grandchildren Kristin (Jonathon) Owens, Thomas E. Suggs, Lance Simmons, Zackery Pratt, and Denim Harrison; great grandchildren Porter Owens, Finley Owens, and Declan Owens.

     Mr. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Debra W. Suggs; and siblings Lillian Buerger, Otis Suggs, Verniece Shaw, Carolyn Smith, Elouise Payne, and Hilda Shaw.

     In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Angel House Hospice Care Center in Whiteville.

     A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in Old Zion Cemetery.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service in the Old Zion Wesleyan Church fellowship hall.
