Annette Porter Kemp: Loris

1961 – 2023

     Annette Porter Kemp of Loris passed away on Friday, Sept. 15, at McLeod Seacoast hospital following a sudden illness. She was 62.

     Born June 23, 1961 in Thomasville, she was the daughter of the late Marshall Davis Porter and the late Mabelene Hilbourn Porter.

     Mrs. Kemp was the Loris Fire Tower Lookout Operator with the Forestry Commission until her retirement and attended Lawndale Baptist Church when she was able. She truly adored her husband, children, and grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

     Survivors include her husband, Russell James Kemp; two sons, Marshall Hursey (Kimberly) and Michael Hursey (Bonnie); four loving grandchildren, Kayla, Mason, Kira, and Mikey; and many loving aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

     In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kemp was predeceased by her son, Brian Bell; and her sister, Cathy Jo Porter Thomas.

     Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Hardwick Memorial Chapel with Reverend Roger Porter officiating.

     Family requests that memorials be made to Lawndale Baptist Church, 4717 Hwy. 66, Loris, SC 29569.
