Rev. Alvin Huggins Jackson: Loris
1944 – 2023
Rev. Alvin Huggins Jackson of Loris passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at McLeod Seacoast in Little River. He was 79.
Born Aug. 10, 1944 in Dillon, he was the son of the late Robert Knox Jackson and the late Kathleen Huggins Jackson.
Rev. Jackson graduated from Fruitland Baptist College. Throughout his life Rev. Jackson was a dedicated and faithful servant of the Lord. He pastored eight churches, was heavily involved with the South Carolina Baptist Association, was the director of missions for the Carolina Baptist Association, and a faithful member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church. He directed mission trips to Haiti, Nepal, North Carolina, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia while also serving as chaplain at McLeod Hospitals and the Loris Extended Care Facility.
In his personal life, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, and he will be dearly missed by all those who were blessed to have known him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judy Jackson; three children, Ron Jackson (Christina), Christy Tyler (Chris), and Rebekah Higingbottom (Travis); seven grandchildren, Cassidy Bell (Hunter), Cayla Mishoe (Dawson), Kenley Jackson, Carson Tyler, Ayden Higingbottom, Noah Higingbottom, and Easton Higingbottom; one great-grandson, Jameson Bell; sister-in-law Maxine Jackson; and his dog “Jack” who was his best friend.
In addition to his parents, Rev. Jackson was predeceased by three brothers, Ken Jackson, Lowell Jackson, and Harold Jackson.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Floyd officiating. Committal services followed at Patterson Cemetery.
