Herbert Jerry Soles: Conway

1925 – 2024

     Herbert Jerry Soles of Conway died Saturday, Aug. 3, in his home. He was 98.

     Born Nov. 13, 1925, in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Haynes Pinckney Cartrette and Idella Anderson Cartrette. He served his country in the United States Army and was a member of Conway Church of God.

     Survivors include three sons, Vernon Nelson Soles of Anderson, David Zo Soles of Hemingway, and Steve Allen Soles of Conway; a daughter, Nina Jean Soles Carteret of Conway; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Leila Mae Milligan Soles; a son, Jerry Wayne Soles; two brothers; three sisters; and four grandchildren.

     Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, in Conway Church of God, burial following in Antioch Cemetery, Loris.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding services in the church.
