Helene brings rain, wind, fallen trees and tornado warnings

Rain and wind associated with Tropical Storm Helena, which made landfall in Florida late Thursday and traversed through Georgia by mid-morning Friday, had relatively minor impacts in the Tabor-Loris Community.
Tabor City Fire Department and Town of Tabor Public Works’ crews responded to multiple calls of trees and limbs down, some across power lines, for more than three hours starting about 7 a.m.

A town backhoe was called in to help remove debris from a large tree that completely covered Britt Street, a dead-end lane just off of Williams Street.
There were no reports of buildings damaged in Tabor City.
Tornado warning
A radar indicated tornado prompted the National Weather Service to issue a tornado warning about 9:30 a.m. Friday. There were no reports of damage, and the warning that involved a broad area of southern and southeastern Columbus and included Tabor City, Clarendon and Sidney, was allowed to expire.
Horry
Multiple calls involving trees and utility lines with some impassable roadways were reported on the Horry County Fire Rescue Facebook page about 10 a.m.
There were minimal impacts in Loris, Lt. Larry Williams of the Loris Police Department said. Officers were actively patrolling but had encountered no significant issues by about 11 a.m., Williams said.
