Multiple structures and vehicles were consumed or destroyed by a mid-afternoon fire just south of Tabor City in northern Horry on Wednesday.
“A house, a trailer, a building, two trucks and a camper,” Tabor City Fire Chief Jeff Fowler said of the losses. “And a motorcycle.”
Multiple trucks and personnel southern Columbus and northern Horry counties responded. Those agencies included Horry County Fire Rescue, Loris Fire, Williams Township Fire, and Nakina Fire/Rescue.
Dispatched just before 3:30 p.m., the scope of the fire was clear from miles away, with heavy black smoke billowing from the small community just off of US 701 at the edge of Horry County.

Almost immediately after he arrived Fowler said occupants of the home were out, but that multiple structures and vehicles were “fully involved.”
Sounds of vehicle tires exploding were heard as firefighters began dousing the trucks and structures. There were no injuries, but an Horry County Fire Rescue ambulance was staged just off of the immediate fire scene. Some firefighters, shedding their heavy gear after working the fire, were resting on the grass as fresh crews went to work.
