A boil water advisory has been issued for Columbus County Water and Sewer District I water customers in an area east of Tabor City, a Feb. 11 news release from the county’s Public Utilities department.
Customers from 17 Kenny Jordan Road to 22430 Peacock Road and all water customers on Woodview Drive were impacted after “local contractors plowed into one of the water lines” in District 1, the news release said.
“Due to local contractors reversing the flow of water throughout the system, customers may experience water quality issues such as discolored water,” the news release said. “Customers that experience problems with discolored water will need to contact the afterhours telephone number, 910-770-2158, to report concerns.
Staff will be monitoring any other potential issues, and “the system should be clear within the next 24 hours,” the news release said. “It is recommended that water used for consumption should be boiled during the next 24 hours.”
