Michael Lynn Stevens: Loris
1955 – 2025
Michael Lynn Stevens of Loris was promoted to his heavenly home on Sept. 9, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. He was 70.
Born Feb. 24, 1955, in Loris, where he was raised and eventually shared 50 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife Gwen, a partnership marked by deep devotion and countless adventures. Together they built a life rich in love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Michael was a proud and devoted father to his daughters, Angie Prince (Kyle), Renee Kratzer (James), and Kellie Kratzer (Justin). His role as a grandfather brought him immense pride and happiness, affectionately called “Pops”; he was cherished by Justin, Ansley, Kennedi, Sydney, Braxton, Cole, Dax, and great-granddaughter, Claire. His family was the heart of his world.
He is also remembered with love by his caring brother, Danny Stevens (Judy); sister-in-law, Cindy Stevens, and numerous nieces and nephews. Michael held close the memory of those who preceded him in death: his beloved parents, Phillip and Myrtle Stevens; his cherished older brother, David Stevens; and a special aunt, Annie Stevens.
Michael’s faith was central to his life. At the age of 52, he answered a spiritual calling that transformed his journey. From that moment forward, he walked with unwavering faith in Jesus Christ—his Lord and Savior—whose presence he trusted through every season of life. On Sept. 9, Michael stepped boldly into eternity to celebrate healing at the throne of God (Ephesians 3:12).
A man of many passions and talents, Michael embraced life with enthusiasm. He found peace working the land around his home place and took great pride in its care. Music was another lifelong love—he could often be heard strumming his guitar or singing favorite tunes at all hours.
His curiosity knew no bounds; whether exploring nature or hunting for treasures at yard sales near and far, Michael had an eye for the unique and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
A funeral service was planned for 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Dogwood Hill Baptist Church.
