Ruth Ann Whittington Jones of Loris passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at McLeod Loris Hospital. She was 83.
Born Dec. 2, 1942, in Loris, she was the daughter of the late Howard Wilson Whittington, Sr. and the late Salem Cox Whittington.
Mrs. Jones worked as an office manager at Loris Surgical Associates until her retirement and she was a beloved member of the Hardwick Funeral Home staff for many years. She was a longtime active member of Loris First Presbyterian Church, a dedicated member of the Loris Garden Club and the Loris Planning Commission.
Survivors include her loving son, Hugh Jones (Sammy); grandchildren Bryson Edward Jones, and Leo Mason Jones; a sister, Betty Jo Sawyer; and many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was predeceased by her husband, John Edward “Eddie” Jones; brothers Staff Sgt. Charles E. Whittington and Howard “Bill” Wilson Whittington, Jr.; and sisters Jean Stevens and Helen Haynes.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Loris First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dr. Tim Osment officiating. Committal services followed at Twin City Memorial Gardens.
