Judith Carolyn Smith Greene: Tabor City

1939 – 2026

     Judith Carolyn Smith Greene passed away peacefully on May 13. She was 86.

     Judy resided in Tabor City before she moved to assisted living in Elizabethtown. She was born June 14, 1939 in Columbus County to Allie McCoy and Emma Wright Smith of Tabor City. She grew up in Tabor City and graduated from Tabor City High School in 1957.

     Judy went on to graduate from Limestone University in Gaffney. She taught in the North Carolina and Tennessee public schools for many years.

     Judy was an accomplished musician and particularly organist.

     Judy is survived by her daughter Julia Carol Greene, of Lumberton; her granddaughter, Jordan Leigh Eller of Winston-Salem; her sister, Jane Smith Patterson of Chapel Hill; and many nieces and nephews.

     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Maitland Smith of Pittsboro.

     A graveside service was planned for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24, in Myrtle Green Cemetery.
