J G Strickland of Tabor City passed away on Sunday, June 7, in his home. He was 96.
Born May 12, 1930 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Yatesy Strickland and Ora Bly Prince Strickland.
He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served in the Korean War.
He is survived by one son, Terry DeWayne Strickland (Linda) of Tabor City; a daughter, Patty Strickland of Tabor City; one sister, Eva Lee Fairfax of Texas; three grandchildren, Amber Williamson, Ashley Buffkin, Bradley Strickland; and one great grandchild, Braxton Evans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fleeta Strickland; and two brothers, Elbert Strickland and Douglas Strickland.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.
A graveside service with military honors was planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, in Myrtle Green Cemetery.
