Shelby Jean Buffkin: Tabor City
1937 – 2026
Shelby Jean Buffkin of Tabor City went to be with the Lord on June 10 in McLeod Seacoast hospital, Little River. She was 88.
Born Oct. 28, 1937 in the Oak Dale Community of Loris, She was the daughter of the late Garcie Pinkney Williamson and Magnolia “Maggie” Norris Williamson.
She is survived by two sons, James William Buffkin (Gail) of Nichols and Furney Dale Buffkin (Robin) of Tabor City; three sisters, Cathy Simmons (Harry) of Clinton, Jo Anna Howard of Georgia, Iris Gale Hairr of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, James Buffkin Jr., Cameron Buffkin, Rebecca Buffkin, Deanna Inman, and Jonathan Buffkin; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Furney Defentrice “Dee” Buffkin; one son, David Lee Buffkin; two brothers, Garcie Willaimson Jr. and Leon Pinkey Williamson; five sisters, Lee Kinlaw, Roxie Jones, Shirley Cribb, Betty Spivey, and Joyce Lovette.
She was a member of Iron Hill Baptist Church.
Visitation was planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, in Inman Ward Funeral Home.
Funeral services were planned for 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, in the Inman Ward Funeral Home Chapel, burial following in Hammond Cemetery located on the Norton Road, Nichols.
