Damien Draper Bost: Nakina
1996 – 2026
Damien Draper Bost of Nakina, a deputy with the Columbus County Sheriff’s, died in the line of duty while assisting a highway construction crew near Hallsboro on Thursday, June 25. He was 30.
He served his community as a Deputy for Columbus County Sheriff’s Office as an SRO during the school season and worked patrol during the summer months. He was the protector, mentor and often took the phrase “get on the child’s level” literally. He would often be caught playing kickball or joking around with students to make the day more fun.
Damien was also a devoted husband, father to two beautiful girls, a son and a brother. He spent his spare time pushing his two girls on the swing until the sun went down or blasting music or dancing with them throughout the house. He loved his family, his job and serving and protecting our community. Thank you Draper for your Service, and your devotion to our family. We love you, always.
Deputy Bost is survived by his wife, Jayden of the home, as well as his daughters Scottlyn and Fallon; his mother Crystal Donahue; brothers Skyler (Kati) Donahue and Adam Donahue of Nakina; sisters Salena Donahue ( Benjie Hardie) of Fair Bluff, Raven Long (Derek) of Nakina, Athena Donahue of Tabor City, and Azalie Donahue of Nakina; as well as many special cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also the many children Damien touched over the years.
Family will receive friends at the South Columbus High School auditorium from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 29.
Funeral services with full honors are planned for the same location starting at 1 p.m., with burial following in Watts Cemetery, Nakina.
