Jerry Steven Collins: Fair Bluff

1946 – 2026

     Jerry Steven Collins of Fair Bluff passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, in Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, Whiteville. He was 80.

     Born June 6, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Charles Robert Collins and Ruth Beaver Collins.

     Jerry became an Eagle Scout at age 17. Continuing his education, he graduated from Western Carolina University, enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve and went on to serve in United States Navy. He worked in the printing industry for 25 years, and then retired as a general contractor.

     He is survived by his wife, Donna Holt Collins; one daughter, Mellinee McDowell and husband Greg of Fair Bluff; a sister, Jenny Belk of Ocean Isle Beach; and one granddaughter, Breyley Hunt of Bolivia.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Barry Robert Collins.

     A memorial service was planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, in Beaverdam Original Free Will Baptist Church.

     Visitation was planned for the hour preceding the service in the church.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, NC 28472.
